Contemporary
'Focus' has been a word that I have been using for some time now - it is my mantra, I guess. I repeat it in a circle of black (a antonym for the meaning of emptiness is fullness - in the practice of meditation). For me, this mantra has a universal quality that many can relate to at some level, so I play with the word and meaning in my work, and am now exploring my technical application - pushing the boundaries in my method, and trying new ideas. Contemporary work is my passion - I revisit landscape and portraiture when I want to build confidence and just enjoy the challenge of hand and eye co-ordination. But it is in the domain of the contemporary world that I am most stimulated, it is where I can truly express myself and explore my artistic language, often the works tell me more about myself than I think I know, therefore my narrative is my personal journey through life with stylistic shifts as I respond intuitively to my surrounds and experiences.
